Call for Abstracts: Global Health and Equity Symposium 2026

The Global Health and Equity Symposium (formerly Global Health Research Day) is a forum to showcase research by Brown students and trainees working broadly in global health and health equity.

Award-Eligible Abstract Submission Deadline - Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:59 PM (PASSED)

Regular Abstract Submission Deadline - Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:59 PM

Symposium Date - Tuesday, April 28, 2026

Symposium Time - 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Location - The Warren Alpert Medical School, 222 Richmond St. (LH 160 & Atrium)

Best Global Health Abstract Award

Current Brown students, medical residents, and postdoctoral fellows are invited to submit abstracts. Winners will give a brief oral presentation and will be awarded cash prizes.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Open to all disciplines at Brown, plus affiliated residents and fellows.
  • One student must be the primary author. You may be a co-author on a second abstract, but only one submission per student as primary.
  • You must be available to present in person on April 28th.
  • Abstracts/posters previously presented at other Brown research forums or conferences are welcome.

How to Submit:

We will continue to accept submissions after February 27th for those who want to present posters at the Global Health and Equity Symposium through April 10th but they will not be eligible for awards. Final posters do not need to be submitted for review. 

Abstract Format Requirements

Abstracts must be no more than 350 words (excluding optional figure/table) and should be divided into these sections:

  1. Background and Research Question
  2. Study Design and Analysis Methods
  3. Results
  4. Conclusions

Note: Please review your abstract with faculty mentors and investigators prior to submission.

Poster and Presentation Instructions

All submitted abstracts will be presented during the poster session.

Poster Specifications:

  • Size: No specific size requirements (common sizes are 36'' x 48" or 48'' x 60'').
  • Drop-off: Bring posters to the Alpert Medical School between 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM on the day of the event, or drop them off early at the CGHE Office (339 Eddy St, 2nd Floor).

Accepted Abstracts 2026
