Dr. Kyerematen's interest in global health began at a young age watching her father, a physician, help Ghanaians based in both the United States and Ghana navigate their chronic and acute medical conditions. She earned a Master of Science in Global Health, from Duke University, after completing her undergraduate studies at Xavier University of Louisiana, where she earned a B.A. in Spanish. She further cultivated her interest in global health through research in Peru and Ghana. After completing medical school in Cyprus, she went on to work as a junior doctor in England, where she learned about alternative healthcare systems and approaches to equitable care. Throughout residency, she cared for a diverse panel of patients at a large federally qualified healthcare center and developed a new arrival curriculum for primary care doctors. Dr. Kyerematen brings her diverse experience to Brown as the current Global Health Faculty Development fellow with the department of Family Medicine, where she plans to continue working with underserved populations and contribute to the field of Global Health through collaborative research and medical education.
