The Brown/Ukraine Collaboration and the Global Ultrasound Institute have awarded Daria Szkwarko, DO, MPH, Director, Global Health Faculty Development Fellowship in Family Medicine, Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, a grant to continue a training program with the Ukrainian FOCUS POCUS Ultrasound Team.

The Framework in Global Health Program provides an opportunity to work on a critical global health issue impacting a low or middle-income country (LMIC). Successful applicants receive $3500 to support a global health research project linked to Brown University faculty scholarly projects. Travel to conduct research will resume during 2021-2022, pursuant to Healthy Brown's travel guidance. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students may also collaborate with Brown faculty members to design a research project that can be carried out remotely, including working with existing data when travel for primary data collection is not possible. Adam Levine, Associate Professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School and Director of the Humanitarian Innovation Initiative at the Watson Institute at Brown University, has been awarded a $2.8 million, five year grant from the National Institutes of Health. With the grant, Levine will work to develop a new smartphone application to help clinicians in low-resource settings better manage patients with cholera and other epidemic diseases.
